When can I access my storage?

Our Cramlington site is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, so you can come and go whenever you like. Very occasionally we may need to restrict access for maintenance, safety reasons or an emergency.

Question 2

How do I get onto the site?

Our site has an electronic fob gate. Simply present your fob to the pad at the gate and it will open. When your storage ends, please return your fob to us along with any container key.

How many keys do I get?

Accepted Answer

Container customers receive one key for the container lock and one fob for the gate. A refundable key and fob deposit of £25.00 (no VAT) is added to your first invoice and returned when you hand back your key and fob at the end of your storage. You are welcome to use your own padlock instead of ours. If you need an additional key or fob, for example for someone you authorise to access the site, we can provide one for a refundable deposit of £10.00 (no VAT) for a key or £5.00 (no VAT) for a fob. Any lock we provide stays on the container when you leave.

What happens if I lose my key or fob?

Contact us straight away. We will either issue a replacement or arrange for the lock to be cut off and replaced. For your security, we may ask for identification and proof of your storage agreement. Charges apply for lost keys and fobs; see our Extra Charges page for details.

Question 5

Is there a minimum hire period?

Yes, the minimum hire period is one week. You pay in advance for your first payment period, which is usually 28 days for containers and one month for outdoor storage spaces.

Question 6

How do I pay?

Accepted Answer

We invoice in advance for the payment period shown on your storage agreement. This is usually every 28 days or monthly, but we can also offer quarterly, 6-monthly or yearly payments. You can pay by Direct Debit, bank transfer or credit/debit card, and every invoice includes a payment link and our bank details. All our prices include VAT.

What happens if I miss a payment?

Please get in touch as soon as possible so we can help. If a payment is overdue, access to your storage may be suspended until it has been paid. Full details are in section 6 of our Terms and Conditions.

Are there any extra charges?

Extra charges only apply in specific situations, such as lost keys or fobs, site manager call-outs or clearing items left behind. See our Extra Charges page for full details.

Question 9

Do you offer storage for caravans, motorhomes, trailers and boats?

Accepted Answer

Yes. As well as containers, we offer outdoor storage spaces for caravans, motorhomes, trailers, boats and other vehicles, with the same 24/7 fob access and CCTV across the site.

Question 10

Are there any rules for storing a vehicle?

Accepted Answer

To keep everyone’s property safe, while your vehicle is stored with us: it must be insured, including third-party cover; gas bottles must be turned off and either stored securely or taken off site; leisure batteries must be disconnected, and nothing can be charged on site; fuel can only be kept in the vehicle’s own tank, with no spare fuel cans; and nobody may stay overnight on site. What can’t I store?

For everyone’s safety, you can’t store food or perishable items, animals, weapons or fireworks, flammable liquids or gas bottles (except as allowed for vehicles), chemicals or hazardous materials, damaged batteries, or anything illegal. The full list is in section 3 of our Terms and Conditions.

Are your containers weatherproof and dry?

Yes. Our modern newbuild steel containers are designed to keep out the weather and keep your belongings dry.

Question 13

Do your containers suffer from condensation?

Accepted Answer

Our containers are modern, fitted with vents to help air circulate, and raised slightly off the ground, so they generally have very few issues. However, they are unheated, so condensation can still occur if moisture gets inside and the temperature drops. To reduce the risk: move your belongings in on a dry day; make sure everything is completely dry before storing it; use pallets to keep items off the floor; leave a small gap between your belongings and the container walls; and for extra peace of mind, especially if you move in on a damp day, place a few moisture trap bags inside the container.

Will my belongings be insured?

We don’t provide insurance, so it’s your responsibility to insure your belongings. Many providers offer competitive storage insurance online. Any vehicle, caravan, trailer or boat stored with us must be insured, including third-party cover.

Is your site secure?

Accepted Answer

Our containers are made from Corten steel and secured with specialist container padlocks. The site has perimeter fencing, electronic fob gate access and CCTV covering the whole site.

Question 16

What if I have a problem with my container?

Accepted Answer

If you notice any issues, such as damage to the container or a faulty lock, please contact us straight away. Please don’t try to repair it yourself. We take maintenance seriously and will investigate and resolve the problem as quickly as possible.

Question 17

What do I do when I have finished using my storage?

Accepted Answer

Empty your container or storage space completely, then return your key and fob to us at the Cramlington site or leave them in the letterbox by the gate. Your storage ends on the day you do this. Once we have checked your space, we will refund any full unused weeks you have paid for, along with your key and fob deposit.

Can I leave items for you to dispose of?

Accepted Answer

No. Please make sure your space is completely empty when your storage ends. If we have to clear or dispose of anything left behind, a disposal charge will apply; see our Extra Charges page for details.
